Are both the points adjusting screw and the hold down screw removable ? I am told my points adjusting screw is missing - Supposedly, the adjusting screw is affixed to the breaker plate and is not removable

Thanks Wesley - After removing my old Delco Remy coil today , I discovered the incoming ignition wire is broken where it fastens to the negative terminal of the coil. Something else to repair -

Your welcome, I know what you mean. Just check my blog, every time I go to work on something I find one or two more things to fix and my wife keeps asking me when will I stop spending money and time on this piece of junk. But that's another story.

On the style of distributor that incorporates a point adjusting screw, it is not meant to be removable. But if it is missing, it's really of no great consequence as it's only a convenience feature and not at all essential. Although perhaps a little more tedious, you can still properly adjust and secure the points without it.

I am rebuilding a spare distributor I purchased - a Delco Remy 1110811 - May use it instead of the one on my car. 1948 Deluxe Touring Sedan - How hard is the removal and reinstallation of the Delco distributor ? Will it effect the timing ?
