Those are cool! The boat my grandfather had built in the mid-50s had a Packard Marine 8 cylinder. The boat and engine are long gone, but I've still got the marine transmission if anyone is looking for one.

Is this a factory color? (In another thread there was a beige car also, and there was some concern expressed about the color - maybe the shade on this other car wasn't correct?)

Just trying to learn.

With regard to the comment about the beige color on the LWB 8-passenger, I didn't see it as a comment about whether it was a correct available factory color as much as it was a comment about the unsuitability of that color on such a formal body style.

Thanks Owen, I can understand that. Black or dark blue would have been much more in keeping with that formal body style.

There is (or was - not sure if it's still here) a silver and black 1946 LWB sedan in San Jose, CA. In fact, in the 30 years that I lived in my old house, it was within walking distance and owned by a Packard Club member and real estate agent. He's the one through whom I bought the house and I also sold it through him. Of course, silver and black might not have been an original scheme but it sure looked nice!
