1937-41 WA-1 carb #477s on a six

Just can't stay away

hi guys

Im looking for a pics of someone with the WA-1 carb on the 6 motor ...WITH climate choke

I got one i trying to swap over and i dont know how to hook up the heat tube going to the choke ...

Where does the heat tube go to on the motor ?

and do i need to block the little hole on the bace gasket ?

The factory conversion for the 477S just had a sheet metal "hat" held in place by a bracket from the base of the carburetor with a heat tube tied into the hat.
Flackmaster may have a good suggestion on how to configure the heat tube.
The small hole in the manifold carburetor mounting surface was for the original Chandler Groves carburetor and can now be ignored.

I can fab the "Hat" as long as i have a pic or something.
At work i will start on something like a hat that i can fix a tube to ...

When you say "HAT" you mean a Hat with a brim ? or is it a cap like a cap from a chapstick tube

I looked, but can't find a picture.

When I put the Carter on my car, I just ran a piece of steel tube down from the choke cover and had it terminate resting on the exhaust manifold. If I find a picture I'll add it.

The choke worked great in that configuration.

I did the same thing, Ken, only I used copper. Probably close to the same result but thought copper was an especially good heat conductor. Either way, there's ample heat to move the spring and open the choke fully once the engine warms up. A guy can fine tune it with the adjustment of the Bakelite cover, as well. Chris

ok this is what i have come up with ... but the choke is super slow it open if at all .. but i still have some tuning yet to do

No. Just drop it straight to the exhaust manifold, so it heats up faster.
