I plan to remove the leaf springs. New bushings liners etc. The 3 nuts come off easily but they seem to be studs and not bolts. The manual was no help. Do I just hammer the 3 studs out? I don't want to mess it up. The shocks are unbolted. The axle is supported off the leafs. Any suggestions?

Thanks. What i am referring to is the 2 sentences after the picture. There isn't much detail. I guess just hammer the bolts out?

I believe so. I would imagine the bushing is probably wedged around it now. Even installing, I believe they are a tight fit. But I'll let others comment that have been there, done that.

I've see on other cars where the bushing is petrified, and won't budge, folks have resorted to touching out the old bushing. But I'd try other methods first. I'm sure Ross can recommend a preferred extraction method.

I don’t recall ever having any so stuck that they couldn’t be readily removed so it’s not exactly clear to me where you are having the problem. If the front bolts, going from memory they push through and if the rear shackles, they come out as a pair/unit with one side of the shackle. In either case, they may be somewhat tight so you’ll have to relieve any weight that you can (even the weight of the spring itself) and you may have to lightly drive them out.

Be careful to not damage the threads, though. I typically install the nut at least half way, then do any tapping on it and once they start to move to the point that the nut must be removed entirely, you should be able to pull them out or use a soft brass drift to tap them the rest of the way.
