Terminaly pretty. Would like to see pics of the rear. This ranks with the finest in timeless styling along with 36-37 Cord and 42 Indian 4our.

Was this a one-off or custom or what???

Four of the original boattail speedsters are known to exist... I think possibly five were built.
Owners of original cars include...
Bob Lee, Reno (green)
William Lyon, S. Calif. (and owner of the blue one)
Bob Bahre, Maine (ivory)
Harry Yeaggy, Cincinnati (yellow)

The "mates" to the boattail speedster are the phaeton and sport coupe. Two of the owners above own a complete set of original cars... Bob Bahre and Harry Yeaggy.

Here's a picture that includes the rear. Sorry, can't remember the photographer or details.

It appears that the height of the hood is lower than say the standard sedans and convertibles????? Maybe the entire car sets lower????? One thing is for sure, from a styling stand point it is most stunning.

Here's a shot of all 3 styles from the Marano collection, photographs by this writer. I believe the Sport Coupe is a legit survivor, restored at great expense after fire damage in the 60s (the ex-Lindhardt car?). One or more of the other 2 are replica bodies.

The 4th car is the Vignale-bodied Packard. Prewar 120 chassis but coachwork done after the war.

The red Phaeton looks great from the rear. Yellow is an excellent choice especialy for sportier, sleek looking vehicles. I have a Yellow 56 Cushman Eagle. It's a bit closer to a cream yellow than bright yellow. I wish i had painted it with the brighter yellow.

PackardV8, even with the factory bodies the radiator shell was shorter in the open cars than the closed cars. Difference about 2 inches as I recall.

Incidently there is an interesting story about one of the roadsters involving a still unsolved (after decades,I think) murder of the owner and disappearance of the car for a # of years.

Both the phaeton and the boattail in Marano's collection are replicas... not that there's anything wrong with that.
