Max Merritt tells me that there were two wheel sizes for the 1948 Packard line, a 6 and a 6.5 width. So far I haven't received a response on FB so now I'm here. I bought a spare wheel that supposedly came from a 48 Packard which measures 5.5 inches on the inside of the rim. The outside is 6.5 inches. My existing wheels on a (manufactured in 1947) 1948 Victoria seem to be out of round by .100 whatever that means. At least three of them are that way. They cause a slight wobble at various speeds and seemingly can't be fixed. So I'm looking for 3 straight wheels but don't know what to ask for.

Wheels are in Group 19.000 in the Packard Parts book so maybe the description of each might help you to narrow it down for your specific model.

It just says part number 338811 for all 22nd, 23rd etc series. They do have a 6 inch wheel in their parts list for the year but don't tell for which model. I'll assume I have 5.5 inch and that the larger tire was for Limoes etc

That's the answer then. I had assumed so but wasn't sure.

One more wrinkle, the type of caps clips on the rim. That varies with models, w/ or w/o clips. The dog dish require clips.

I'm thinking it should be 6", not 5.5 as that's what's on my '49 2 dr.
I don't think it makes that much difference depending what tire you're going to run. If you stick to OEM vs if you go oversize, 225/235 may need the wider rims.

The rim is definitely 5.5 inches. They tell me it doesn't make any difference between a 6 and a 5.5. I ordered a 235/75 R15 tire from Coke for the rim.
