I purchased the kit to replace the original three prong brake switch that also controls the torsion level on the 55 Caribbean.
I would have preferred to keep the original but this was the third switch that failed in a short time and NOS switches are getting harder to find….and prohibitively expensive.
I have no idea whether using a switch that is old enough to collect Medicare is the problem but it is aggravating.
Neither the instructions with the kit nor obvious marking on the replacement identifies the two prong switch but I would like to buy a few while they are still available at the auto parts store..and cheap.
I recall someone saying in an earlier post that the kit uses a switch from a VW.
If anyone has a parts number…please advise.

The Napa SL134 is the typical 2 prong replacement switch that is used in the conversion kit and also in cars with the regular brake switches. It is spec'd to be a 1/8" NPT thread but there have been some reports that the threads might not actually be quite as specified. Most have reported no issues on the V8s or other years where the switch threads into brass blocks but older models which thread into steel have had leaks reported. The Napa website shows the Echlin version has some sealant around the threads, their lower cost Mileage Plus version does not. That might be the reason for the difference.

The only VW switch we have used that I am aware of is a replacement for the original 3 terminal. It is a 113-945-515G but you will need to change terminals to a 1/4 female quick connect from the stock .156 diameter bullet type terminal in the plug Packard used. Another option for a 3 terminal is a Wells RB402 which also will need a terminal change. The Wells is harder to find and while I have not used either switch, both have been reported by others as working but also not long lived. On the VW switch, I did not find specs but would suggest anyone trying one to verify the thread and make sure it is 1/8" NPT. If not a metric thread it could also be 1/8" straight pipe which would thread in but would probably leak without some kind of sealant.
