Good question Don
The car still has its original fuel line on it. The fuel pump was bypassed because if the engine fuel pump fails when you have a fuel pump running in the fuel tank, then you'll shoot gas into the oil pan. And the carb is not original so the fuel port is in a different place. Probably I could use 2 short repair kits and keep the original line. I need to look again and see how the bypass was ran. Thanks RH for all the links.

Thanks Riki and Jerome for the vital info here...
Bit of a correction here, fuel port on the carb is in the same place, but not the same size. It's 3/8 NPT (takes a fitting of .625 max OD). So Gerry emailed me and mentioned that I'm actually missing the fuel filter, so I'm going to get one from him, question is that the carb port is 3/8 NPT when the fuel filter I guess is 1/8 NPT? A fitting like this would work, right? Next question is what to about the fuel line by the old pump, looks like they stuck the old flex line right over the flange of the short metal line and clamped it. One question is if it's good enough, it doesn't seem to leak and IDK what pressure the fuel pump has. I would like to fix but I'm wondering how critical... For that, does anyone know how to install one of these? Is that a compression union or do I need to flare the ends? Would you trust a compression union? Pictures below.

Anyway, maybe it's time to get the proper carburetor that's ported specifically for your car, then reconnect the lines as they should be. Dump the electric fuel pump and connect everything the way it should be after rebuilding the stock pump. I've never ever had a problem with a properly plumbed Packard fuel system even when the cars sit for months or years at a time!

There is a fitting that goes into the inlet at carb.
Some have a small filer in it. The fitting has an 1/8 pipe thread. Check parts book diagram.. You just need the line from carb. And the carter filter 1/8 pipe nipple goes in to carb fitting. And carter filter uses a 90 degree elbow. 1/8 pipe to 5/16 inverted flare.

Looking at other picture
Yeah. I think. Look at the line They cut the male 5/16. Off. Main fuel line. Looks like a ford pump. You can redo it but its a bitch. Easier with radiator out. Need a double flare end. Unscrew the clip s. Holding line on frame. Pull line away from frame to swing tubing cutter. And to attach flaring tool. With adapter for double flare.

Under the dampner. Looks like a fitting
Because that line is to long. It bends up. Before pump Then a short hose goes there. One end male 1/8 pipe. Other. Female 5/16 inverted flare. You can buy that hose.

Sorry Don I see you did mention that, I've been quite tired the past couple days.
Yeah at some point I think I'd like to revert it to at least the original carb. But I don't want to rebuild + R&R that this late in the year.

You can get and rebuild a carburetor and pump during the winter for installation next year, during which time you can also get all the proper lines to have ready!
Anyway, it does appear that the fitting was cut off of the chassis line below the pump and it can be flared with a new one but even without it, you can connect the pump in a more tasteful way.
