If you are going to try sticking the smaller duct inside the firewall adapter I would wonder if there is enough clearance or if the flapper valve could still operate. Maybe you could look into some kind of reducer coupling to attach the smaller hose to keep it on the outside.

One option might be to see if something like this exhaust pipe reducer could be used. Cut the length on both ends off to make it as short as possible and paint it black. Use a clamp of some kind or maybe a screw or two to keep it on the firewall adapter. While the large end might fit over the Packard piece, not sure if the duct would fit on the small end but maybe a muffler shop could put it in their machine and compress it down to reduce the diameter slightly if it didn't.

If that is not feasible, there are some rubber reducer coupling adapters for ABS plumbing pipe that are held on by screw type clamps. One of those might work or if you have a friend with a lathe something could also be adapted using a standard PVC reducing coupling as a start. A coat of flat or semi gloss black paint and an extra coupling would hardly be noticeable.

Bless you, Watson. In my opening appeal, i mention

"Don't want some shiny rubbery/vinyl ducting."

M. Solberg suggests same. OliveOil instructs me how to use the Internet.

Surely there is someone w/ a 1941-47 Clipper having "the heater air supply duct setup option PA-377704" Monsignor Hanson HH56 describes, per the photos this consumate gentleman and fount of information so many of us take for granted posted.

3" version of the below wanted. If anyone has or knows, hallelujah. If not, c'est la vie.

Cheers,

Holmes:

This is the fabric type 3" diameter duct Mike is looking for and needs a continuous length of about a 3 1/2 - 4 ft.

Honestly, of 9 Clippers, I haven't a memory of having seen one of these thingies.

OliveOil - that's good. Must be Motor's first cousin or the like.

They make a flexible 3" aluminum duct for venting bath fans and the like which would work adequately for longevity. It would be impossible to mask it being anything other than what it is.

This stuff would work, it looks like. Sold per foot. Neoprene-covered fabric hose. Expensive, like $16/foot.
