Hello,
are there any good tips for changing the rear wheel bearings? Does the differential have to be removed?

Greetings Mike

Once you've disassembled the rear brakes and removed the backing plates, the axles will pull out. The wheel bearings are pressed onto the axle shafts.

You don't have to touch the differential.

I just did this job on my ‘37 120. The axle shafts pull out easily. I believe I only needed a few taps of a slide hammer. I had a harder time getting the seals out. I ended up making a puller - there are details on my 120 blog if you’re also doing that task.

Be advised, the bearings are a special sealed type made of unobtanium. They went to a more standard tapered roller bearing in ‘38.
