As per PackardDon's advice I bought and applied this to my windshield gasket to help soften it up. Even after one treatment it was noticeably better. I'll be applying this on all my car's seals.

Glad to know it helped! I really made a major difference on our VW EOS between the top leaking and not leaking in the rain.

I gave it a heavy application, let it sit over night, gave it another application today and warmed it a bit with my heat gun and that helped some more. By the time I'm done the glass shop will think I bought a new gasket!

One thing that I have learned working on my car is that nearly every project is a rabbit hole!

I'm "only" replacing the windshield, but that means cleaning/paining a bit for rust on the flange, treating the gasket, cleaning the defrost vents, sanding and polishing the stainless steel (not done yet), cleaning/painting the inside of the inside molding, waxing and polishing everything, etc. etc. But I love it!

If I paid someone else to do this my "windshield replacement" would cost a few grand!

Is there something I could/should do to lubricate my wiper pivots while I have good access to them?

Ross's comment a while back

Probably 3 in 1 oil would be the way to go.
