In looking for something else, I discovered two small diecast pieces of chrome that I cannot identify. They have the numbers 469284 RT and 469285 LT cast on the inside. The bag they were in was marked 1-469503. None of these numbers show up in the parts book. They are not earlier than 55 because that range isn't even in the 48-54 book. They look like they would go over the courtesy light in 55 because they tail off and don't allow for another piece of chrome or stainless to continue. I will post pics as soon as I can take them.

469284 and 285 are indeed not listed in the parts book but are the pieces that go above the rear quarter outside running lights on 1955 Four Hundred models. They match up to the stainless trim on the door that is above the wide ribbed trim strip.

I can't quite visualize that, got a picture? Is it 55 only?

469285LT is on the right and 469284RT is on the lsft. They look like pieces that would go just to the rear of the front door. Notice the small notch cast in the left one.

Looks like BdeB may be correct. Here is a pict of 400 out of photo archive. Not sure why the notch on one but not other. The same piece on Caribbean is sort of curved like the bottom one to continue the trim back..

Yes! Brian is correct. I knew it had to be 55-56 Packard, but could not place it. Now why do you suppose the fellow I bought the Caribbean from had those pieces? I mentioned the small notch on the one piece because you could easily see it. Both pieces have the same small notch as does the 56 Caribbean trim.
That 55 400 door needs a serious attitude adjustment.

Isn't the ribbed "reynolds wrap" folded over on top and bottom edge. Wonder if the notches are to clear the extra thickness. Haven't looked but believe the same pieces are used on all the 56's & would explain the Caribbean having notches--even though it didn't have the ribbed panels. Maybe the fellow got them in a deal he couldn't refuse.

I couldn't install the TL tool because I couldn't get the TL link high enough to install it. I reverted to the way I did the 400. Without the weight of the grille and bumper the frame just wouldn't come down low enough. I also didn't have the proper bushings - should be TRW 12309. Advance Auto wanted $16.00 a piece. Napa wanted $6.00 for Moog equivalent.

I need to affix the back painted pieces to the headlamp doors. These were originally held on by peening the stud to hold the ribbed back pieces. There is not enough of the studs left to do that. I had thought of drilling down into each stud and running a 6-32 tap and securing the pieces by 6-32 screws with small washers. Does anyone have any other ideas? You can see from the pics that the nibs are small.

Randy, Procedure is exactly what I did. Don't remember for sure but think I used small sheet metal screws instead. Didn't have a bottoming tap & thought I'd have to go pretty far to get decent threads at top with what I had. Didn't want to risk coming thru. Whichever I used, they're still holding fine.
