Nothing special. It's the later style (51-54) that used a wire retainer that can be a challenge isn't he little nubs in housing have rusted away.
The early sleeve style retainers should not present any issues.

Hello,
I pulled out the old thermostat and it appears that the housing still has a retainer/sleeve in it. I’m thinking I can still use the retainer since it’s in there pretty good and in good shape. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks. Here’s some pictures
