Just so proud of myself today. I changed the oil and filter, glass bowl fuel filter, and air cleaner…WITHOUT BREAKING ANYTHING! I wirebrushed and painted a few rust areas on the frame while I had the car up. Having not hurt myself, I proceeded to install a rear view camera. It was very easy it allowed me to use my old iPhone.
I desperately needed a way to see cars racing up behind me in the freeway. With the top up, I have a very small window and with the top down the folded top sits up a bit high to see everything. I need to be sure no one’s too close behind me when I need to change lanes. I’ll take it on the freeway tomorrow and test it out. The camera is solar powered, but chargeable. It has a remote for turning it on and off. You can take photos and videos by pressing the remote. The technology is pretty slick. It even has those boundary lines at the touch of the remote like the kids have in their cars. All in all, I declared victory for the day. The rear view camera works great except with the top down in bright sunlight and wearing sunglasses with old eyes. When the top is up, it is a big help seeing what’s coming up behind me. It can drop the wifi connection momentarily going 60-65 on the freeway, but comes back up right away. We’re getting plenty of sunshine at the moment so the camera stays charged.

Joe, my wife and I each drive a Mercedes as our everyday car. Both cars have a high quality rear view camera, but only one camera is convincing. This works because the camera is installed in a capsule that closes automatically when not in use.
The lens of the rear view camera on the other car has to be wiped almost every day, otherwise you can hardly see anything. Please report back about your experiences after two months.
