Got the driver’s side wing window gear replaced. Works great. I also went back and lubed all the window regulators and door locks. They all work really well, now. But, the window tracks are rough and two of the windows get cocked to one side and bind up. Once the tracks are replaced, they should work great.

Anyway, it’s progress.

Don,

After replacing all wind wing gears, replace the windwing rubber (steele) as that last inch of closing with old hard rubber provides so much resistance it can overstress/break even your new non-potmetal teeth.

Word of caution to the wise.

If you cant source a special shape gasket, dont use Armorall as it is a look-good bandaid that doesnt rejuvenate the rubber; it is a good topical to preserve fresh rubber.

Try Aero Cosmetics Rubber Care...this actually penetrates and reconditions the outer layer of a rubber item and is used on aircraft cockpit seals, etc

Yep...all new rubber will be done. There are two items that I can't source due to my car being the 138CD instead of the 120.

1) rear wing window rubber - my windows are substantially longer than the 120. I'm investigating if I can utilize two sets of the 120 seals from Steele and join them to make one set.

2) running board mats - there just aren't enough of the 138s out there for justify the cost to any on the vendors to produce them.

Yeah, I came across their site last year. I’ve tried reaching out several times, but haven’t been able to reach anyone or get a response. I have them on my list to try again.

Well, I sent an email to runningboardrubber.com along with some photos. This time I received a very quick response. I’ll be talking to them more tomorrow.
