Don,
After replacing all wind wing gears, replace the windwing rubber (steele) as that last inch of closing with old hard rubber provides so much resistance it can overstress/break even your new non-potmetal teeth. Word of caution to the wise. If you cant source a special shape gasket, dont use Armorall as it is a look-good bandaid that doesnt rejuvenate the rubber; it is a good topical to preserve fresh rubber. Try Aero Cosmetics Rubber Care...this actually penetrates and reconditions the outer layer of a rubber item and is used on aircraft cockpit seals, etc

Yep...all new rubber will be done. There are two items that I can't source due to my car being the 138CD instead of the 120.
1) rear wing window rubber - my windows are substantially longer than the 120. I'm investigating if I can utilize two sets of the 120 seals from Steele and join them to make one set. 2) running board mats - there just aren't enough of the 138s out there for justify the cost to any on the vendors to produce them.

Yeah, I came across their site last year. I’ve tried reaching out several times, but haven’t been able to reach anyone or get a response. I have them on my list to try again.

Well, I sent an email to runningboardrubber.com along with some photos. This time I received a very quick response. I’ll be talking to them more tomorrow.

Good news and “Yikes” news….the good news is that I spoke with Kris at Running Board Rubberand he can do my running boards. So I at least have a source now. The “yikes” is a bit of sticker shock. That said, it wasn’t too much more than I was expecting since they are one-off and it includes stripping the boards down, sand blasting etc..
Now, I just have to work on the scheduling. I’m hoping to get my car to a body shop tomorrow to move forward on a better estimate and get on their schedule.

Okay…so, I recently received a Carter WD-0 carburetor from Cli55er since he went to fuel injection. Thanks, Henry. But, I just discovered an issue that it appears he also experienced a few years back.
After a year-long search, I had finally found the missing air cleaner for my car. It works great with the Stromberg EE14 carburetor. But, it isn’t recessed enough at the bottom to allow for clearance of the choke coil on the Carter carburetor. I was pretty excited to swap out to the Carter since everyone I have talked to has said that it is better all the way around than the Stromberg…especially with the choke coil being on the carb rather than installed on the exhaust manifold. Along with that, I have the needed choke coil for the Stromberg, but I do not have the needed linkage from the coil to the carburetor. In the time my dad had the car it always had a manual choke. So, I already know that finding the correct air cleaner is not easy. I think I was lucky to finally find the one I have. The dilemma… Do I search and search for the correct air cleaner for the Carter carburetor? Anyone have one? Do I stick with the Stromberg and keep searching for the needed choke linkage? Anyone have that? (Or I should be able to fabricate something that will work) Do I stick with the Stromberg and just keep the manual choke? It’s always something!
