Disconnect the tubing and connect the vacuum gauge to the manifold port that goes to the output side of the vacuum section of fuel pump. If your fuel pump is one of the later styles where the vacuum side connects to the metal lines by a short length of hose you could disconnect the manifold side port from pump output and use the short hose to connect the gauge to the metal tubing.

The port going to the distributor advance is ported vacuum taken from a location above the throttle plate so will probably not have the same readings as the intake manifold port depending on how much the throttle is opened.

Specs for the carb settings from an old Motors Manual says the needle is typically set between 1/2 to 1 1/2 turns so I would start at 1 turn.
