With the Jag motor and 12v, I not going to win that originality award anyway! 😀

Wel, you might…just a different form of “originality”.

I’m working on my inner fender panels. Yesterday I drilled out all of the old rivets and ordered the rivets and washers I need (thanks for the link, BigKev).

Today, I made a paper pattern and then got the rubber cut out. Now, I just need to make a run to Harbor Freight to pick up some punches to make the needed holes (thanks again for the link, BigKev)

You can see from my paper pattern, I was close to an “oops” I remembered the end needed to wrap around the corner after I cut the pattern. I adjusted my marks on the rubber before cutting the first one.

Well, shoot! I was just getting ready to start punching the needed holes for the inner fender rubber, when I discovered I DID have an “oops”.

I caught myself as I mentioned earlier on rounding the corner at one end. But, I did not notice from Kevin’s pictures before that I needed to round the corner at the narrow end as well.

Fortunately, I have plenty of rubber, so now back to cutting it out….the correct way this time.

I got all the holes punched….and I actually managed to get them all in the right place. They all lined up great. The rubber is now riveted in place. Now they are ready for the wrestling match to get them in.

Fortunately, I put them in and out several times without the rubber to make sure I had the process down. They have to be maneuvered just right to go in.
