Has anyone ever seen one of these installed on a 120B/C/CD or 115C?

I stumped Flackmaster when I brought this up. He has never seen one on these cars. Later cars had them, which he knew about.

Since it bolts to the inside of the bumper, I figure they are only applicable to non-trunk rack cars. On trunk rack cars, the bumper mounts futher out and I would think this would interfere with the rack when folded up.

First I’ve heard of them. I haven’t seen any references to them anywhere until your post.

They are reffered to in 1937 Service Vol 11, No 15 (snippet above), and again here in 1938 Service Letter Vol 12, No 14:

If anyone has one, I am curious how the front edge is handled. Does it attach somehow to the rear roll pan, or is there a bit of a rubber cushion/seal that just presses against the body? Or does it float slightly away from it?

Since it is delivered in primer, that would assume it's then painted to match the car.

The prior versions of the 1937 Service Letters I had were pretty poor B/W scans that were nearly unreadable. With these better copies, I am finding all kinds of interesting tid-bits.

I've never seen the Packard accessory type, but many mid-30s onward cars had them. Most of them I've seen attached to the body sheet metal and had a fairly wide gap between the deflector and the bumper to allow some bumper movement from normal chassis flexing and from bumper deflection due to "bumps". I'd like to have a rear one to protect the paint and perhaps reduce dust getting on the rear of the car. From some viewing angles, it would make the rear of the coupe/convertible body look longer, too. I don't know whether one could be used with a trunk rack.

I'm restoring my 1941 Clipper which has both front and rear guards. My plan is to use velox handlebar tape between the panel and body of the car for both paint protection and squeaks. Velox tape is a bicycle handle bar tape used years ago. Very thin cotton tape about an inch wide with self adhesive on one side. Readily available on eBay and in many Colors although I use black.
