Has anyone had any luck finding a 6volt pos. ground tac? I bought one on Ebay but it didn't work. I'm glad I didn't drill a bunch of holes before I tried it, the seller said he will take it back but that still leaves me without one.

There are a number that are battery powered. You can also use an inverting boost power supply to give a tach +12V with the case grounded.

You might check out Westach. They have some 6v positive ground tachs that look period correct but are somewhat expensive. Finding a modern 12v tach you like and using the 6 to 12v converter would probably give you more style and feature choice and be less expensive. If possible, one that could accept an induction type pickup would be better. With the pickup there would be less chance of false or no trigger because of the 6v point system which might be marginal in a 12v unit and any power supply mixing. A tach with that feature might bring the total price back up comparable to Westach though.

Induction wire tachs are very cheap on Amazon and the like. Don't know if they make ones of acceptable appearance cheaply as an indication wire naturally fits a digital readout.
