High pressure oil line - 1930 engine

I am wondering if anyone has had experience removing and replacing the high pressure oil line on the side of a 1930 engine block (it was used on other years too). The machine shop working on my block told me they could not shot blast the block to clean it because of possible injury to that line. Any help appreciated.

Are they using zinc shot?.

Hear it does a beautiful job. And retards flash rust.

If you can't get oil line off.

Cover it. Wrapping it with a stout plastic. And that plastic wire mold that has the slit to push over tube.

Have you considered hot tank cleaning instead of shot blasting?

They are probably going to hot tank it. Originally the idea was to shot blast it (not with walnut shells but real metal shot) because of the extraordinary amount of cooling system crud behind the side plate. My block (not the exact one in the picture) must have come from the desert southwest or something given the amount of 95 year old solidified gunk in it. I am sure walnut shell blast will not hurt it but it will probably be less effective in removing that stuff.
