Have been reluctant to post because I can't say for sure which is which. Both types were on various door panels thruout those years. I think the one that is formed sheetmetal might be the early one but .......

The sheet metal clip has a leg that is 3/4 long and wire leg is a little over an inch. The wide portion that retains in the door hole is approx 1/4 inch down from where inside of panel would be on both. The width of the part that fits thru the hole in door and retains is about 5/16 on the sheet metal type and 1/2 on the wire clip. The wire has plenty of give so will squeeze in. U shaped portion that slips thru the opening in the panel will accommodate a 1/8" thickness.

The pattern I seem to have noticed is that the wire type will get used near the top of the cards, and the sheetmetal type throughout the rest of the card. Varies depending on the card, though. My 55 400 uses 2 wire types at the front top. But I have 55 Super cards that use about half of each per card. Furthermore, the same part number is called out for the rear interior trim panels, and I have ONLY seen the wire type used there. Odd.

My 53 Cavalier and 53 Patrician parts car use only the wire style on the door cards. I cleaned mine up and reused them as well.
