Thanks for the update. I have a like-new starter bezel I can sell you. $250 AUD plus shipping.

It should not be possible for the engine vacuum pump to pull in brake fluid. Someone ran the lines wrong. Please show your mechanic this post, where I thoroughly explain the correct routing of the vacuum lines. The only difference is that your windshield washer jar is on the opposite side of the car.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb ... 8299&post_id=272250#forumpost272250

Probably there is someone in AU that specializes in Treadle Vac refurbs. But in the States we often use Tiger Treadle Vac.

I have a video on YouTube on how to refurbish a front power antenna:youtu.be/AaB2f67MpXg?si=prFk0-pVutwuGZ4x

By the way, I spoke with Mr. Pushbutton who rebuilt your transmission actuator many years ago. If it gives you problems, he is willing to work with you on that. But first post here, as it could be a simple fix.

Thanks for the info.

Im not sure how it was getting into the engine. what I do know was that I had a brake fluid leak somewhere, but no actual leak (that I could find) my mechanic found the leak and got the vacuum pump refurbed.

I had ordered a starter bezel, but I need the plate/ring slot that goes behind the dash that holds the bezel name plate onto the ignition barrel. My mechanic is fixing that.

I do need to fix the washer pump on the jar, I have two but both look to be burnt out. I did see somewhere where I could get a refurb kit for the solenoid and pump, but can not remember exactly where I seen that. Im sure my auto sparky will be able to help and I will go to my local club to see if there is anything like that in their spares dept.

I would love to get Mr.Pushbuttons email so that I could find out more about the actuator. It hasn't played up for a bit, but mind you I havent' driven her for a bit either. lol.

Click on Inbox at the upper left menu. From there you can. Find him on the list and send a PM. You can also do a Google search and find him that way. Best not to post email addresses here directly.

Hi All,

Update

Finally got "Penny" back from the mechanic after 5 months.

Things that were fixed;
Treddle Vacc - refurbed
Brake cylinders on the drum brakes refurbished
Welsh plugs
New 4-barrel Holly installed
New thicker racing oil was put in, which helped with the lifter issues

I redid the glovebox. Though I do find that the glovebox arm rubs against the starter barrel, is this standard or should there be more of a gap

Things that still need to be fixed;
New fuel tank
Fuel sender unit
Electrical clean up
Washing Jar refurb
Steering wheel refurbed
Radio (though I think that it just needs a speaker)
Interior refurb

Currently running like a dream, though gear changes are a bit clunky.

Taking her to plenty of car meets / shows and getting lots of attention :D

Good to hear. What do you have in mind for the electrical, washer, steering wheel, and interior refub?

The interior on that one I recall being pretty nice, so it probably only needs to be detailed. New foam in the seats as well, but that's about all I might suggest unless I am forgetting some major flaw. I believe it's all original, so don't let anyone convince you that you need to "restore" some aspect that's perfectly fine as-is.

For the other things, there are correct and incorrect ways to do everything, so I suggest informing us a bit what the apparent problem is and what your goal is, and we can provide some guidance towards a reasonable path forward.

What symptoms does the radio have? You have two speakers in there already, or at least you should... spinning the speaker knob (above the starter switch) left to right controls the fade from front to rear. If you can't hear any output, then either your radio vibrator is malfunctioning, or someone wired the car as positive ground, as all 12V radio vibrators in common use require negative ground. If the vibrator is working then you will at least hear a faint hum and/or static. You can at least check that the radio is plugged into the fusebox and the fuse is OK.

If it seems like it should work, the best bet is to carefully remove it, then take it to a radio specialist. I have detailed instructions and photos here:packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb ... 7723&post_id=265708#forumpost265708
