I've been looking for something just like this 3M Cavity Wax and applicators for controlling corrosion on my '53 Cavalier. Particularly the floor pan braces, rear fender openings and rockers.

Has anyone used this, or another similar product? Seems like a good DIY way to prevent, or at least slow down, the rust in the areas we know will be a problem.

I would imagine it would work pretty well as wayyyyyyyyyy back in the day, my dad used simple candle wax dripped onto the body to stop some C-pillar corrosion on some old beater.

I believe the wax would be a great help. I would wash out all dirt and dust traps, including doors and the various underbody areas, preferably on a hot summer day, making sure all drain holes are clear, then let the car dry for a couple of days, then apply the product as directed. Chrome trim can catch a lot of dirt, too. A pressure washer can often get it out. Some kind of treatment of areas where trim clips and screws go through the sheet metal would be a good idea, but always try to avoid plugging drain holes or doing anything that will trap water and debris. Stay as far away as you can from ROAD SALT. I'd avoid dirt roads, if possible. (It's not possible here) When a car is garaged, even a small fan to circulate air is a good idea. A ceiling fan is a good idea to circulate air. Moving air helps keep things dry and dissipates high underhood heat when the car is first parked. That stuff people spray the underside of mower decks with could also be useful on the underbody areas, especially where gravel and road debris strike the body and chip and erode the paint or other coating.
