My brother has Parkinsons and can no longer drive. So he has asked me to Sell his 1956 Packard 400. The car works great in my opinion but needs body work & Paint. Also needs Interior work. It has new brakes & tires. Ther engine has the Jack Vines Olds oil pump conversion and works great. I have done some detail work under the hood to make it look more presentable. We are starting off by asking $15000. Push button trans controls work fine and so do does the automatic leveling suspension.

My contact info is Ernie Baily 805-433-5540, ernestbaily@att.net

Hi Ernie,

Is the car in California? Do you have more pictures of the under-body (like 50+ pictures of different parts, up close ) ? Is all that rust just surface or are there holes everywhere? Also, is the paint original or re-paint?

Thanks.

Hello, It looks like the paint is not original. I have a few pics of the car underside. The exhaust system was redone by a previous owner, I had to fix some of the brackets so it woundn't rattle. I have been working on the gauges to get them working properly, I have the fuel gauge , amp gauge working but the others are giving me problems. All so we put a new gas tank in as well! If you like, give me a call and I can talk to you better than typing. My Cell is 805-433-5540

Many of the photos in the original post are the same one six times so maybe you can post a variety from different angles?

Sorry for the dupe photos. I'm still learning how to put photos in. These are the only other phots I have at this time. I'll go over to my brothers house and take a few more pictures.

15k is a pretty steep ask considering the interior work that needs done. I drove my 55 400 with an intact original interior, and new paint, home for $6k. It has its sore spots but there's very little that NEEDS work. The paint and seats in this are on the borderline of useable. I'm not trying to be insulting (and if you want to feel better, please check my 55 Clipper Deluxe project...) but I think at that price you will be waiting a LONG time.

As a comparison, this one, which I believe to be in about the same condition regarding driveline, body, and paint, but with a complete reproduction interior, was I think $10k.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=27628

Another comparison, this one has an extremely original interior (trunk and carpet appear original as well), 18k:facebook.com/share/1EKgfikFbe/

+1 to the above, unfortunately. Also, it looks like Happy's car was in considerably better condition, body-wise, too. This one has visible rust spots all over the place, and body damage. Now, these can be just surface imperfections, I don't know. But when I see such rust in such places, these are usually suspect for rotten body panels :(
