BDeB, Thanks for posting and confirming the brace for the 48 antenna. I suspected there might have been a difference in braces on the 22-23 series because of the wider fenders but didn't realize the mounting location would be that much different. From the looks of Joe's antenna, aside from the stying details above the fender as visible in the accessory book, the body below the fender was quite a bit different from 47 too. The link that was posted yesterday for the repair kit might work on the later antennas but even though it mentions units going back to 40, without a lot more detail I would wonder about it on the earlier version.

Hey gang - sorry I haven't checked back in in a while on this. I did purchase the antenna "rebuild kit" listed on eBay. I'll be the guinea pig on this one and let you know how it works. Arrives on Thursday. I had previously showed it to one of the vendors - they were, uh, skeptical about it working at all. So I suppose we'll see. Worst case, I'll just return it. Will keep you posted.
