Just posted about 2 hours ago on FB Marketplace:

Big cache of Packard parts cars located in southwestern New York State near the city of Binghamton. All are parts cars in varying conditions and have been stored outside for probably decades. Some are sunk in the ground up to their axles. Here is what I am seeing in the photos:

1938 Super Eight Sedan. Body cut off behind windshield. Has dual side mount fenders

Two 1946-1947 Clippers. One is a six-cylinder sedan with an intact engine and the other appears to be a long wheelbase model

Several bathtub era cars. I'm counting at least six cars. One is a very rare 22nd Series Custom Eight Club sedan and there is another Club Sedan which is either a Standard or a Deluxe Eight. There is also a 22nd Series Custom Eight sedan.

One 1951-52 Patrician and a second Patrician which appears to be a 1953 model.

Seller has some other cars strewn about the yard. I see a 1946-47 Ford sedan (very rough) and some old trucks.

Might be worth a look if you live in the area and need parts for your project.

This car is located in Georgia:

1956 Caribbean convertible. Very rough car, not sure if it is even restorable. Years of outdoor storage have certainly taken its toll. Car is totally trashed, but may still yield some good parts. Seller asking $1,500:

Really not a lot left for $1,500. A lot depends on what's left (if anything) of the dual quad intake, carbs and air cleaner. Otherwise, all you could do is take the shorter convertible deck lid, the convertible top frame, see if anything is left of the antenna bodies and motors in the trunk, and then send the rest off to meet God. Even the front of the hood is rusted through. Such a shame...

Just spotted these today:

1946 Clipper Super Eight LWB sedan and a 1949 (22nd series) Super Eight LWB sedan. Bodies look pretty solid on both cars, but interiors are trashed which would probably make restoration prohibitively expensive. Neither car runs and it appears they have been in storage for many years. They are parked in some sort of a storage building which is open on two sides, exposing the cars to the elements. Paint and chrome are shot. Located in Mississippi. Seller asking $5K for both cars:

1955 Clipper Super Panama HT. White Jade over Fire Opal (Paint Scheme MJ). Good driver quality car. Interior is original and shows some wear but is useable as is. Ad states 68K original miles. Asking $11,500. Miami, FL:

1949 (23rd Series) Standard Eight Sedan. Good restoration with nice grey paint and new interior. Ad states car has 60K original miles and a new stainless steel fuel tank. Sharp looking car which does not appear to need anything. Asking $15K. South Carolina:

1939 120 Henney Service car. Very good original condition with nice paint, chrome and interior. Ad states car was once used by a Bridgeport, CT surf shop as a delivery vehicle and has a couple of photos of it from that time period (appears to have been in the 1970's). That would have been interesting! Orange, Connecticut. Seller asking $35,000:

Packard Don. Read your post with interest as always. After looking at the photos again, I noticed the casket rollers in the floors. As the service cars were intended to pick up human remains for transport to the funeral home, I am thinking that a real service car would not have casket rollers as the body would not be placed in a casket until after embalming. So, there would be no need for them in a service car. Caskets are very heavy, and you really do need the rollers when you arrive at the cemetery. I've been a pallbearer enough times to know that! My understanding that a body being picked up for transport to the funeral parlor would simply be placed in a gurney and covered with a shroud. Question: Of the actual service cars you have seen, did they have the casket rollers or not?

My thought is that this 1939 Henney may have started its life as a hearse. When the funeral home finally decided to replace it with a newer model Henney, like one of the new 22nd Series models introduced in 1948, they may have decided to convert their older hearse into a service car by blocking out the windows. A local body shop could have easily made this modification.

I think that the car's later service as a surf wagon is really interesting. But I really wonder how many surfer girls would have been willing to ride in it. Think they might have been more than a little creeped out by riding in a former funeral car!

This sort of reminds me of that old Jan and Dean song, "Surf City". I made a few changes:

I bought a '39 Packard, and we call it a Henney

Well, it's got dual side mounts and a cormorant

Glad you enjoyed my comments! I’ve owned Henney-Packards since the mind-‘60s but my expertise doesn’t got much farther back than 1940. That said, Service Cars did indeed typically have casket rollers, the purpose of which was to pick up the casket from the casket maker. One thing the seller mentioned as proof of it being a Service Car was the partition but even with that, all had it except for the side loader (Nu-3-Way) models and a couple special order end loaders.
