Door Seal Replacement

I picked up these door seals at our club's swap meet last summer and I think it's time to put them on.

I picked up tube of the 3M adhesive Steele Rubber recommends.

I can't seem to find the adhesive remover that Steel recommends, which is this one.

So I'm thinking or using this one, which is available locally. Open to recommendations if you have used something that you found worked well.

If you have any tips or tricks when it comes to door seal replacement, I'm all ears!

It will take several rounds of remover to probably get all the old adhesive off the paint. Spray, let it soak, wipe. Repeat.

Wipe edge of rubber that is going to get glued with some alcohol or brake cleaner to remove the mould release.

You want to use a very thin layer on both seal and the body. Which usually means put down a thin line of each part and then spreading it out with a popsicle stick or acid brush. Then let it tack up. That stuff is really a contact adhesive.

Putting a big thick line of one side and just pushing it together will be a recipe for failure. Which then takes you back to step one.

I would not use brake cleaner on rubber than I care about as the chemicals in it are not great for EPDM. I would suggest rubbing alcohol, or denatured alcohol.blog.darwin-microfluidics.com/epdm-chemical-resistance-chart/

You "should" be able to run a regular bead, press it in, then immediately remove it, then let it tack up a bit, and put it back. Try this at your own risk as it's easier when it can be done, but if it doesn't work, you are back to Kev's method plus removing it all, like he said.
