Hi all,

Im looking for a nice car that needs little if any work done to it. I like all of these body styles from these series so let me know what you have. Good paint/Frame and floors. Also looking for the automatic only, had the 3spd transmission but want to try out the ultramatic this time around. Please send me a message here and we can go from there! Thank you!

Nathan.

Nudge your window to 49-56. Ultramatic didn’t come out until the 23rd series I believe

Hi Nathan: Here are a few current postings of FB Marketplace you may want to consider. Not sure what your budget is, but I think these cars are reasonably priced for the condition. All have Ultramatic:

1955 400 from Laporte, Indiana. Nice older restoration. Ad states engine has been rebuilt. Seller asking $13K:

1951 Patrician. Very solid car overall. Looks sharp in light grey. Nice chrome and interior. Only issue I see is the incorrect '53-'54 hood ornament but that can easily be fixed. Seller asking $9,500. Penfield, New York:

1953 Patrician. Beautiful original car in Galahad Green. Nice paint and chrome. Original interior shows wear but looks presentable. Running car which needs some minor TLC. I actually like this car a lot. Seller asking $9,900. Waterford, Michigan:

facebook.com/marketplace/item/699861829601820

Another very nice 1953 Patrician. Silver over black. Beautiful original interior. Has incorrect 1951 Cormorant hood ornament. This is a very sharp car. Do not think you could do better for the asking price of $12K. Greensboro, NC:

facebook.com/marketplace/item/498008729967802

1956 Patrician. 42K original miles survivor car. Ad states car has recently had over $5K in work done to it. Has push button Ultramatic trans. Exterior looks very good. Interior has been redone, but incorrectly in modern fabrics. But it is still a nice driver. Seller asking $14,400. Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania:

I frequently repost Packard for sale on this site, so check out some of my other recent posts under Various CL Pickings. If you could give me an idea as to your budget, model preference and how far you are willing to travel for the right car, I can try to find some more specific picks for you.

I appreciate you posting those!I talked to the seller regarding the green packard in Waterford Mi car has rust underneath which sounds like it's not great and some mechanical problems. But looks nice lol. Also talked to the seller with the 55 400 in Indiana sounds like a ok car but the upholstery looks like it was done amateurish and some things look out of place. He's supposed to send me more photos. My budget is 15k and under roughly. I probably would probably travel about 6 hrs at most as im roughly in the metro Detroit area. I really like the 51-54 bodystyle but im not really picky ill take a look at any packard from 49-56. Thanks for your assistance!

I posted this very nice 1953 Clipper Deluxe Sedan earlier this week. Maybe this one will be of interest to you. Appears to have had a lot of work done to it, probably considerably less than the $16k asking price.

1953 Clipper Deluxe Sedan. Nice restoration in the car's original color of Carolina Cream (Scheme T). Paint, chrome and interior all look excellent. Has Ultramatic. Seller asking $16K. Springfield, Missouri:

And here is a really nice '54 Patrician in Iowa. Seller asking $17K:

I think your budget is reasonable for a very nice four door or a club sedan. You might even be able to get a hardtop, but it would probably need a bit of work. I would recommend a Patrician or a Cavalier over a Clipper, but there's nothing really wrong with a nice Clipper. Years ago, a close friend of mine owned a beautiful 1953 Clipper Deluxe sedan similar to the one here. It was a wonderful survivor car with only 22K original miles when he found it stored in a barn back in the mid-1980's. It had been in storage since 1962. Took very little to put it back on the road and he got many years of enjoyment from it. It was a regular at area car shows.

I am online almost every day looking at Packards, so if I see something else reasonable, I will post it as a response here.
