Hi all - I'm looking to complete a project in my 1924 143 Touring. Long story short, I need to get the proper pipe size for the oil petcock opening. It measures .44 inches outer diameter. I went to a pipe supply store today, and they thought it was 1/8th, but the female elbow they sold me is barely too small to fit on the part (pictured below). Does anyone know if I need to find some sort of specialized fitting? If you're curious, I'm attempting to make a way to check my oil level in this vehicle. They did not have dipsticks in 1924. Thanks!

If it were 1/8" pipe thread it would have 27 threads per inch....Just by eyeballing, it looks like 14 threads per inch...Check it with a pitch gauge if you have one or count how many threads there are in a half inch. Can't tell from the pic if it's a taper pipe thread or straight machine thread that would require a gasket. PB

Thank you PackardBill! It does appear to be 14 threads per inch. When I looked at it again, I thought I would see if I could remove the part. Sure enough, it did come off. It appears to be a standard 1/4 pipe into the engine block and it converts on the other side of the hex to the odd size. So I think I can continue my project using much easier to source 1/4 fittings. Thanks for the information!
