Kev, transmission rear output shaft seal is easy - drop the driveline, take out the yoke, pop the old seal out, new one in, and Bob's your uncle. Quick and easy job.
I have a modern part number at home; I'll post it here later today.

Thanks! Luckily, the transmission is already out the car waiting to eventually be mated to the engine when it comes back.

Well deep into the rear fender repair now.
The next challenge is patching the areas where the fenders attach to the running boards. ![]() At first I was hoping just get away with a patch in the center area that is rotted away. But, no. The damage and pinholes extend nearly all the way to the front flange. So I decided to make patch to replace the entire bottom front section of the fender. After using just about ever metal working tool in have, I've gotten pretty.close. So all my various body hammers and dollies, and forming mallet and a leather sandbag, and a edge shrinker. ![]() Here is the patch laid over the existing metal. ![]() The hardest part was forming the curved and radiused edge flange. ![]() I still need a bit more tweaking here and there, then I can cut off the old metal and weld this in. There will be a some metal work afterwards to level evertythign smooth. And I still need to make and weld in a new reinforcement strip on the backside. When done I need to repeat the entire process for the other fender.
