I am very proud to announce I finished my draft of the windshield weatherstrip install instructions. These were written based off the experience of doing two installs in a row. You will note that it is MUCH more detailed than the Packard shop manual.
I did not bother to typeset this version so the locations of the photos are a little off and the figures are unnumbered just in case I need to add some stuff. So feel free to take a look and let me know your thoughts! ![]()

Hi, Sorry, I forget, did you order a new one, or do you have a Steele one? The Steele ones are not the correct shape so attaching the trim is a huge waste of time and effort compared to using the proper type.

Hi, While it's certainly your decision on how you want to spend your time and money, I think it's fair to warn you that one of our well respected and very competent forum members happy has been trying to get his installed correctly for the past 3½ years. (Start) (Most Recent Update) Whereas I was able to swap mine on my Deluxe (shown in the instructions) in only about 3½ hours per day, across just two days. My mom helped lift the glass out and in, but it's otherwise a 1-person job. Just some things to consider. ![]()

Okay, I investigated this off of a good used piece on my parts car and my recommendation is simply to use a 1/16-in thick piece on the interior flange (i.e. the flange perpendicular to the direction of car travel) then just run the same weatherstrip profile over that. That appears to principally be the difference in that special molded piece that Packard used.

I trimmed just the tip of the seal off to make is square, and then glued another piece on to make it extend it so it was like the original. I was pleased with the end results.
This was my test piece. (I was a more careful about it being straight on the final one.) ![]() ![]()
