I don't believe there is anything from another mfg that will just bolt right in. The OD is not standalone and being somewhat integrated with the transmission case, both need to be changed as a unit. Packard made their own transmissions and castings thru 54 and I don't believe anyone else used them. No idea how well other mfgs units would bolt to the bellhousing either but I do remember the Packard trans was used in some street or hot rods back in the day because it was beefy. Perhaps there is some kind of adapter that could be found or made to swap in reverse. If something is found, I doubt the mounts, linkage, or speedo cable would connect up without work.
As to the R10, even though they share the same service manual there are apparently some mechanical differences. Whether it is in operation or just in specifications as to torque and HP capabilities I do not know. Since I believe it was used on some smaller GM products it might be the unit is too light duty to hold up with the heaver Packard cars with higher HP engines. That was the case with the older R9 ODs when they had two units -- one for the smaller engines and a heavy duty version specifically for use with the 356 engine. This R10 question came up a few years ago and one of our Australian members specifically said the R10 would not work but I don't remember what he mentioned for a reason. You might be able to find that earlier discussion with a search of the forum.

The R11 and regular transmission used in the Henney-Packards were different yet but that difference was primarily in the use of specially hardened gears to handle the 3+ ton weight that some had.

Thanks Howard,
I wasn't thinking so much of a different manufactorer, just the different models of Borg Wagners. I very much appreciate your input though. Thanks! -D

Off the top of my head I believe the R11s were the same for all engines 51 - 4 so unless someone else has different info I think any of those passenger car trans/OD combos should bolt in your 53.

As far as I know, they were the same for all 1951-1954 cars but the parts book would surely confirm that although possibly the speedometer drive gear was different. According to the parts book, transmission and overdrive assembly part number 901970 fits these LHD models: 2401-02; 2501-02-31; 2601-02-11-31-33; 5400-01-02-11-33.
To go back to your original question, any of these years and models will fit your car as will the one from the 1951-1954 Henney-Packard commercial chassis 2413, 2513, 2613 and 5413 but none from any other make of car will fit.
