Birdie made it through her first assignment….brunch with my wife, sisters, and niece. The looks we got when I pulled into the front door and then came around to let them all file out was priceless!

My niece (front seat) just sent this picture to me. This was the most fun with Birdie to date. Next time we need to do it on a cooler day. But, Birdie did great driving off and on all day in 95 degree weather. I did experience one brief moment of vapor lock. She tried to stall, but didn’t.

Funny story…
When I had my car at the local cruise night last Friday, and older man came over to look at it and decided to tell me all about Packard…. First, it was “a real shame what the government did to Packard. They forced them to join up with Studebaker and then ran them out of the country, right to Canada”. Hmmm…Packard was in Canada and Packard did merge with Studebaker…But, wow. That was an interesting take. Then, he was looking at the footrest in my car and says “ Do you know what that was for?” I said, yes, it’s a footrest. He responded, with “no, Packard was way ahead of others and they put that in for praying.”. You know, because Packard only sold cars to Catholics, I guess. Again, just wow….interesting perspective! ![]()

At least he didn't call it a gangster car or ask where the tommy gun case was? That's the most common reaction I get to my car.
