There's a Packard not far from me that was purchased new by the family with the wife and children still living. They want to sell the car to someone that will restore it to original (no modders or salvagers). It's 2262-9-53247 (Deluxe Touring Sedan), 5-20-49, engine G286933, Briggs 2262-53055. Maroon. Seats and door panels were reupholstered in the 1960's, but otherwise the car is original. Only 63,119 original miles! Engine turns freely. No rust holes but surface rust in places. Floors, trunk and quarters are solid. No dents. Very solid. There's a crack in the front flange of the drivers side hood. Dashboard woodgraining is degraded. Last registered in 2005 and was reportedly running then, but not being driven.
Has all hubcaps and beauty rings. Original manuals and some paperwork (mice chewed up some of it). Fender skirts. It appears the jack is missing.

Unfortunately a 49 Deluxe Sedan is pretty much the least valuable model of Packard in existence. Even at $1000 purchase price you would lose money just on mechanical parts let alone aesthetic parts, and labor, compared to the value add.

It is a worthy project in some senses, but finding a suitable buyer will be quite the task indeed.
