On my '54 I jack it up using the diff housing, and then put a jack-stand on each side under the axle as far outboard as possible (next to where the axle meets the leafspring), and then lower the jack.


On the front I put the jack-stands just forward of the firewall near where the frame rails meet the forward section of the X frame. I would not recommend putting jack-stands anywhere forward of the engine crossmember as the frame get pretty narrow up there.

Never quoted myself before, so this is new for me.

I sent Bob Bendtsen an email about the straight eight Packard adapter and he said that it does work with manual transmissions. This is GOOD news!
