thanks...coupes esp 3 window variety are very pretty even the 6 cyc variety...The data plate says it was sold by
Penn Motor Co, Scranton, PA on May 3rd 1937
the clock shows 26,000 miles..I dont know if correct or not
but lets put it this way...they is no rust on the car except surface rust on undercarriage..AND there is no rust or rust through in the trunk whatsoever..I bought it from a young man in Michigan back in the 90's who belonged to Motor City Packard Club, He was on the verge of losing his home at the time because of layoffs with the State of Michigan. There were prob a couple of owners in between.
Layoffs de je vous 2009..lol

well back to base on...installed new points and condensor
set the points with a .20 gap on the high point of a lobe. which means they close and touch on low point of a lobe.

wehre before I had spark by removing a plug and grounding on block..now I have no spark from plug..

back to base one on monday...cant remember but all the point and condesor wire are all attached together and there was one more wire inside the distr that was also attached to the same ground..

so the points, condensor and this other wire ?? are all screwed in together.

got a new rotor coming tommarrow...but it was sparking with the old rotor.

Unfortunately I don't have specs for your motor .020 seems a bit fat.I wouldn't think there is that much difference from my 51 327. witch is .017 my dwell angle is 21-30 degrees.time for a Packard 10 point tune up.Pretty odd. Brian

Not sure which engine you have but specs in Motor's for 6 are .020 and dwell of 38 for Autolite or 35 for Delco. For the 8 is .017 and dwell of 27 for Autolite or 31 for Delco.

In later distributors, there have been reports of the flex wire that goes to the terminal for coil connection shorting due to the insulation rubbing or the wire itself breaking and a strand or two poking out touching something.

After all the work you've done, any chance of something like that happening and preventing a spark? Also, any possibility of the new condenser being shorted?
