Try Indian FOUR cylinder 36-37, or Jr Scout. Possibly ACE (motorcycle) 4 cylinder late 20's to 1934 or 35 time period. Could that possibly be Packard V12?????

No, No. If there was a part# on the envelope, I most likely wouldn't be asking.
But thanks, and keep thinking, I hate to loose a bet! PS - Packard Twelve valve faces are, unlike most of their other engines, 45 degrees, both intake and exhaust.

No script on the valve somewhat begs the question as to when did Packard begin to script the valves. We would know then a latest date that the valve could be.

Packard script appeared on their valves at least in the teens. I'm pretty much assuming this isn't a Packard valve and was wondering if anyone could recognize it by the unusual (to me) keeper arrangement. It may very well be coincidence that it was in a Packard envelope. Pardon me for not expressing the question adequately.

Wish I could help but have never seen anything like them. Curious arrangement with the little caps. Appears they have to go on top of stem but are they a wear surface or there to hold the rest of spring retainer down in a certain position. That seems an awfully large groove for such small half circle clips. Wonder if any advantage vs the split tapers.

Late 8N Ford Tractors had little caps like those that caused the valves to rotate.
