I had the wheels sandblasted and painted over the Christmas holidays. They turned out pretty good with the exception of one wheel. It is warped beyond belief. I can understand the painter not picking up on it, but I had the tires mounted and balanced at and when I picked them up they never said a word about it. This wheel is so warped there is no way it could have been balanced. When I put it on the car and I did a test rotation with my hand I could not believe as it rotates, the top of the tire will go back and forth about 3 inches. Anyone know where I might locate another one?

Greg,

We were just wondering how you were coming along this weekend. Lookin good! I hope to get a chance to catch up soon. Before we know it, summer will be here once again.

The running boards look better than average! I think they are going to look good.

Looks like you will be ready for paint and upholstery in the near future.

Jim

the "extra" holes in your running board are to mount the full length trim of a 1903.

I spent last week - end removing glass and door trim. The rear window, the only curved piece of glass, was in good shape; I can clean it up and reinstall it. The side glass is delaminated badly, so I will replace it.

After a 6 month break from the Packard Project, I am back at it. I removed the engine this week-end. Not too difficult, since we have dissasembled everything else on the car. I am trying to get down to the frame to paint it and start restoring.

Could not wait to get back home this week-end to pick up where I left off.
The prior owners of this car went crazy with some bright blue in the engine bay. They painted the top of the engine and the firewall, so I am stripping the paint and we are going to go back with proper Packard Green from Bill Hirsch. Does anyone know if the starter and generator was green or black? What about the fan?

Timing cover and crank pulley are engine color, as is the oil fill tube. All other bolt on pieces (generally) are painted semi or gloss black.

Your welcome. Packards International makes an engine bay judging guide that is very good in flushing out what how everything should look.

Is you look at my project blog, there are many pics of my finished engine. Most things on your engine will be painted exactly the same (except for the gray vs. green color). Only thing not correct is the alternator. But the original generator should be black.

Here is an update on what I have been doing. Things have slowed down a little; I dislocated my knee and will have to have surgery. Anyway, here are a few before and after photos.....
