I initially posted this in postwar, but I think I should have posted here: Can anyone help identify this set of valve tappets and what they're for? I don't want to throw them away, so I'll give them to anyone who needs/wants them, f.o.b. Dayton. I'll also ship them, for the cost of postage.

Are you sure those are Packard tappets? Those are obviously flathead tappets, and the Packard V8 is an OHV. The Cadillac 346 CID flathead V8 had removable tappet carriers like those. I dont remember exactly what the Caddy 346 tappet carriers look like, but I know that they are very similar to what you show here.

The tappets shown are not from a Cadillac 346 V-8. While the Cadillac did have removable tappet assemblies, it used hydraulic silenced type lifters. The ones shown have adjusting screws and locknuts. The search goes on ...

JW, thank you for enlightening me and correcting me. West Peterson, there are two cylinders per tappet carrier, how many tappet carriers are there total?

So we have narrowed it down to a flathead 6 cylinder with mechanical lifters.

Well... you'd be assuming that one set of the tappets aren't missing.

Point well taken, I see that one of the carriers is missing a few tappets, so the three carriers may well be less than a full set.
