I looked at your pictures, Tom. Some very nice work indeed. I was particularly interested in the interior construction of the tie rod end (OK, steering cross tube) as I have what appears to be the same unit on my 34 and I've never had one apart. It was also interesting to see the earlier version of the Bijur in some detail. Keep up the good work, and keep the pictures coming.

I have posted a new entry over at the Packard Paddock Tribune. This entry details the repairs to the Bijur lubricator line for the left side front brake/steering arm and the installation of the steering cross tube (i.e. tie rod).

A couple of new entries over at the [url=http://www.packardpaddock.com/page1/page1.html]Packard Paddock Tribune[/url]. One detailing a small mistake I made, the other covering the last week of progress. Below see a photo montage. I think the difference is striking.

Oh, and yes, I know the Bijur line should be painted black. I left it copper (varnished) because:

a) it is one of the more unusual mechanical features of these cars for folks used to modern vehicles. I get a lot of questions about it. This way, I can easily point out the lines and were they go.

b) I wanted a little bling

If I or the next owner really need to have them black, it is a very easy fix.

Well, summer is over and fall has arrived here in Texas. The weather has been just spectacular over the last two weeks. Progress continues to be made! The latest post at the PP Tribune is here.

I realize that most of the project blogs, with the exception of Mal's tremendous blogs, are post-war focused. And, with Mal's posts we really get to see a wide diversity of cars, problems and fixes. The PP blog is almost exclusively about one car (733 sedan) and the two ignoramuses that keep banging away at fixing it up. So, I have two questions:

1) How many post-war folks ready my entries?
2) Do folks feel they are getting their monies worth following along this single restoration?

Just curious.

I certainly read your blogs and find them very interesting and I like the way "Packard Paddock" has been put together.

By the way where did you get your new metal spring covers from or did you make them?

Tom, I don't even OWN a Packard, but have been reading your blog, and have visited the Paddock a couple of times...

Although I guess I'm postwar, since I DO have an HO scale model of a '53 Caribbean....

i read along, but mostly cause i love the green one ;0)

i fell in love with it my first trip to salado, i giggled and felt something funny in my pants.....ugh ugh..i mean nevermind. LOL!

i follow alot of people on here, cause i just never know what future i will have with different kinds of Packards. i like 37 and 40 mostly for prewar.

and i have visited your website as well.
