Bythe way, the PI club accepts chrome plating in place of nickle plating. I choose chrome as I didn't want to be polishing these lines.

I just bough a Ridgid double flaring kit 345DL/150. My $20 flaring kit from NAPA was junk. This appeared to be what most recommended for a decent flaring kit. Looks like I will be bending some new lines. Problem is that it may take 25' of steel line for me to make this one gas line.

I did some more research. Steele Rubber has rubber grommets for gas line going through the engine pan for a 32 902. What puzzles me is the grommet is 2 1/4". That is about double the size hole I have under the carb in the pan. Plus the hole up by the fuel pump is a rectangular shape. Is this correct. When I had these pans stripped, they looked like factory punched holes.

McMaster-Carr P/N 9307K24 is a close fir to the original grommet in the splash pan.

P.S. After hearing from everyone and pricing steel, stainless steel and copper, I am going to go with 3/8" copper (cost~$25 from Cardell Industries). I'll paint it black run it on the outside of the frame to where 32model901 shows it crossing under the frame. At that point, I'm going to install an in-line filter. After that I'll have the copper tubing either chrome or nickle plated.

I would go with steel for the lines. Copper is not used on cars any more because it work hardens. And since you are going to plate it, it doesn't matter. On a 1912 Cadillac that I previously owned, I experienced a sheared off copper oil line. The previous owner had the same experience. I replaced all of the copper lines with a copper alloy, Cunifer, that is used in European automobiles. I choose this over steel, because I wanted a similar copper look, and they weren't going to be plated. It's not cheap, but you can buy it here.

Get a good bending tool like this bender and get a good double flaring kit like this flaring tool.

Bent a new line using steel line. Using a 5' line from the auto store will leave you about 3" left over on a Super 8 if you make all the right bends.

I did look at my splash pans again. I forgot near the fuel pump I did have a round hole and a rectangular hole. What is the rectangular hole for?

I've been in contact with John Ulrich and he has splash pans from a '31. Does any one know if they will fit a 32 901? Or does someone out there have a picture of what they look like with a ruler some where in the picture?

I would check to see if hey had the same part number here in the parts book.

I don't know if hey interchange, but I doubt ut since in 32 Packard redesign the frame.
