Well, lots of folks have done it before you, that's always reassuring. Space permitting, you might want to think about tack-welding a nut to the backside of the bolt to hold it. The heat will cook the rubber bushing, but replacing it is why you're there in the first place, so no loss. Would also make reassembly easier.

Glad to hear that you found the nut you needed. While I have not used them before, FMW Fastners (http://www.fmwfasteners.com/) appears to have a great selection of nuts & bolts.
