I would also like to repaint the engine block in my car. Not because it's an incorrect colour, but because the paint is aweful. While in the process I would also repaint most of the engine components as well. What colour should all of this be (the block, oil cap, air filter, oil filter, generator, etc.)?

As a general rule of thumb, the Engine (Block and Head, water pump, oil fill tube) are engine color. All the of the engine accessories, pulleys, and brackets are black.

Thanks, BigKev. I will probably remove the fenders to paint, should I do this before I get a new paint job on he body?

Yes, paint the engine before you do any body work painting. I wouldn't want to wrestle those fenders in place with new paint on them, they are heavy and awkward to say the least.

I'll be looking at the car that was in the auction tomorrow, as the owner would like me to do a tune up on it. It was a no-sale - maybe the owner will get more reasonable with his price. Here are a few photos of the car. Let me know if you're still interested.
