also I do not see the middle clip like in your guide. I cannot even get my spring out because a large clip on the arm holding the spring. I tried to push it in thinking it would unhook, or the clip on the arm would unhook, but no luck.

I don't think you shaft end has a cap on it. If you look closely, it looks like there is a key (or small clip) shoved through middle of the end of the shaft. I think you need to dislodge that key.

There looks to be a retainer key in the middle of the under-cut area.

OK. I'll see if I can pull on it. Not much room. A small bladed screw driver will fit in the hole. I'll try that to drive out the key.

Here is a pic of my spring with the clip on the arm holding it in place.

Have you checked out the 51-4 service manual. That mentions driving out the pin and shows a special tool which might be for the clip you mentioned.

Yeah, your pump is for sure a different design. I think once you remove the key and push the pivot shaft out, you should be good to go.

The MANUAL!!! Common sense wins again. They say to file down the side that is riveted down to the washer and drive the pin out. I guess I have been working the wrong side of the pin. The mushroomed out end must be what they are talking about. Doing that and I will definitely need to use the new pin.

Thanks guys!

Pin is out! Filed down the end and it tapped right out. The end we thought had a key was actually solid pin. It was squished out to make a stop.

I'm disappointed that my kit did not include the 2 C clips I will need to use the new pin.

The valves fit in the holes so I assume they will work and are just universal versions.

How about the steel wool stuff I found in the vent? Should it come out or stay?

Thanks again for your help!

Do not remove the steel wool, that is the filter for atmospheric vent.

Thanks BigKev...I'll give it a shot of air and put it back in the vent.
