Thanks! I really needed the encouragement at this point. Pretty bummed about the dog, but my son puts a smile on my face way more then the dog ever did or would have.

got the engine painted, took about 20 minutes with my sprayer and it turned out great. the tape is to remind me to go back and hit those spots again, too thin can still see primer a bit.
i also hung a new storm door. i had to stay busy as it is the only way i can breath. i have a massive sinus infection and my face is swollen bad on the left side. if i sat and watched tv...i couldn't breath. if i worked...i could breath. darndest thing. i found a place to rent an enclosed trailer for the salado meet....(unless my other lead returns my email, then i'll just rent) i just hope there is room to park it and unload it for the meet. i'll just roll out the car and part the trailer somewhere else, so hopefully there is room. also i know that the bolts all over the motor should be painted, but i only did the head bolts. i plan on doing stainless bolts on the rest of it. i like the contrast it will provide and will spruce up the engine a bit without adding chrome. and if i ever need to take a bolt off i wont ruin the paint on the bolt. i.e. like getting off the timing chain cover, it'll just be stainless bolt and the wrench wont hurt it. i haven't done the oil pan yet cause there is still some cleaning to do on it. anyways enjoy pics. FML!! all i was doing was pressing on the hub, but like a DUMBASS i was supporting it on the outside lip of the housing. i'm a DUMBASS!
this water pump is going to be the end of this damn project. I HATE THIS DAMN WATER PUMP!! i wont post pictures of what happened when i tried to salvage the expensive new NOS propeller and seal. lets just say its not feeling to well right now. sorry Fred but the nice gesture of you sending me another seal was for not...cause i screwed it all up again. i need a new housing new seal new propeller i don't expect anything free, but i could use some help if someone has a housing laying around. i know Joel has another propeller and i'll have to get a seal from max/kanter i guess. i saved the bearing and the hub and that is it. screw this damn water pump.

yeah i'm debating whether to come or not with the chasis. if something were to happen to i would be more upset then the water pump breaking all to bits on me.
right now i just need to step back a minute cause i'm just breaking things now. i was doing so good and then just started screwing up. i tried to press this timing seal in and it got womperjawed on me and bent all up. this was after me trying to get it out again and then fix it.....as you can tell its useless now. joy for me! my old one i can hand fit and it just spins, so i really just gonna have to get another one of these. anyone have any suggestions on how to press this in without bending it. does anyone have that special tool as described in the manual that i can borrow. i'm good for it, never would leave a Packard fellow and steal things. thats not my style. or alternatively...did you just press it in by using something the same diameter as the inset of the metal. mocked up the look of the stainless last night.
for those that care those are 5/16-18x3/4 bolts and lock washers. was just going to wipe some grease on the seal, but would rtv be the right thing to use? or just put it on with just the cork? Hank

well broke another pump housing, that husdson one. that hub just wouldn't come off (i had to use some SERIOUS force after i got the bearing out to get the hub off), but i did salvage the impeller. i sure wish the hubs had matched i woulda just put it in the car as it had a new seal in it too, which got damaged btw.
i did manage to get the front seal in this time without screwing that up. went to homdepot and got a pvc connector, shown for reference incase anyone else needs to do this. it worked perfect. the bearing in the hudson pump was a FEDERAL FS-1406 bearing, it was identical to the Packard one. i cannot find this on the internet just yet.
