Interesting that the hearse has junior taillights. Was it really a Super Eight?

West, I honestly can't say for certain but from what I could see of the engine it appeared to be a 356 not a 282 so I assumed a Super Eight.

I was just curious. I'm sure you know what a 356 looks like. Being a hearse, I guess it's not inconceivable that they used the Junior taillights for one reason or another. I've also wondered why they use those hideous-looking aftermarket-looking sidemounts on commercial chassis. Why wouldn't they just use the factory sidemounts???? Perhaps added after the funeral business sold it???

I've seen other Henney's use a mix of junior and senior trim. The hinged lid sidemount covers too

Dave,
It was very nice meeting with you and your bride. I hope southern Arizona was welcoming and enjoyable. You frankly timed your arrival perfectly as the weather you encountered on Saturday in Tucson is what we all live for here. I have enjoyed this thread and I'm glad you brought it (hearse) to the forefront. Can't tell you how many times I've passed it over the years when I was in the Tombstone(the Town to tough to die!) area. Next time I'm there, I'll attempt get more info for everyone. kg

Kevin, Thanks for the comments. I really enjoyed my trip and wished that I could have stayed longer both to visit with you and learn more about your car and also just to be able to enjoy the ambiance and the warmth of both the countryside and the people we met. I would very much like to learn more about that interesting old hearse at Tombstone and particularly whether it is a junior or senior chassis. I hope that someday we can meet once again.
