ok. So it appears to be 1/2 inch Al. plate for trans HOUSING adapter.
A rather long 5" diameter spacer bolted to Packard flex plate thru end of crank shaft and then a GM flex plate bolted to spacer. RUnning TWO flex plates, OEM Packard for starter ring and GM flex for bolting GM TQ.

Slick set up. PRobably similar to T'Flite 727 method.

BTW, note the ENGINE oil line at top of block. THis engine most likely has the FULL FLOW FILTER Olds oil pump conversion.

In regards to crank adapter & flexplate. The adapter is 4" long & almost identical to what Bendtsen has sold for the last 12 yrs for Cadillac, Olds & Buick nailheads.
The original Packard flexplate is used to start the engine and there is an 1/8" thick triangular plate that is only used to drive the torque converter.
Yes, I did put a Olds HV oil pump in the engine with a remote filter mounted on the inner fender of the passenger side.

What is the price for this conversion kit?

Have you driven it for any amount of time?

Does it work good?

Any warnings?

I believe the price was around $3,500.00. This include everything. Removal of old trans, adapter plate, rebuilt 700R4 trans, driveshaft, install. Drop the car off & pick it up. Turnkey deal.
I've put on about 700 miles this summer.
It works GREAT!! Finally, I can drive the 400.
Bendtsen is very good to work with.
If one were to buy just the adapter plate kit, you may have to make & install the linkage setup, not sure if he would include that with the kit.

Congratulations. Looks like a superb conversion.

Remark: Look at pic in first post above titled "Packard V8 pics 004s.jpg (327.70 KB)". Am i correct to say that in order to remove the ENGINE oil pan (which means the OEM Packard lower bellhouse must removed ) then the transmission must be removed first?????

What do you end up with? A three speed trans? Four?

I assume no computers, just manual/mechanical workings??

No computers on the 700R4.
I could have gone with a4L60 or 4L80 as well. This would have cost another $1000 + for the computer.
I figured might be adding one more thing to go wrong, as we only put on 1000 miles a year.

Spent some time looking this up. One question about the trans: are all overdrive equipped? Seems like overdrive could really help with gas mileage, while four speeds would give better performance.

My trans is said to be nearing it's final trip to the great boneyard in the sky, and I want to be prepared.....
