Would anybody have any information on this car?

flickr.com/photos/liftarn/1432892257/

I had never heard about it, and now, browsing in the net, I found one picture only, stating it was King Carol's car, and apparently built on the 1502 chassis, 139". It has what looks as a European coachbuilder's body.

It would be very interesting to see more pics of this car. Would anybody have any more pics that could share and any info on the car?

Thanks,
victor

I have been communicating with the museum that has this car, and am awaiting details.
Will post info when I hear from my contact.

Yes, the following is all I have in stock. It is a 2+2 seater, I especially like the harmonious tail end.

Guscha and all:

Thanks a lot for the pictures! Truly, a very beautiful car, and I agree it has a beautiful and very well integrated rear end.

Any ideas as to who the coachbuilder was? Evidently European, but I have no clue.

Also, is it known what chassis or wheelbase did it had?

Thanks!

I believe that this is a Franay. I will contact a Russian friend.

Yes, it is a Franay and it is on a 1502 chassis.

It is interesting to note that it appears to have 1936 spoke wheels

According to my friend this car has a wild past life and we should be glad that it just has wheels.

The German Wikipedia confirms 1502 and says 15th series Super Eight 1937 but that's nothing to write home about. The majority of Germans think a Packard could be eatable.

Franay certainly built some really elegant vehicles on prewar Packard chassis, we've seen pictures of some of the others on here. Their workmanship is said to rival that of the very best. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder but i don't find this one to be particularly attractive, though unless Franay built it "on spec", that probably is more attributable to the purchaser's desires than to the coachbuilder.

Dave, I remember that you shared with us a couple of pics showing a black & white colored Franay. Even its radiator mask has been colored.
