Where do you find these things?!?!?
That setup would be a natural for the '41-50 Clippers and Clipper based Packards since the spare is already "in position".
Great work!

Jim, do you know the photographs from Randy, taken in the Frick car museum in Point Breeze, Pittsburgh and showing the elegant Packard parking assistant in powder blue??

That would almost justify the "swim platform" off of the back of those 50s convertibles.

John, that is exactly what I think too! Before that the swim platform (handy term) was perishable fashion. With parking assistant it almost makes sense.

If I were a conspiracy theorist, would wonder why the Cadillac got a nice hidden in the trunk install but the Packard one was stuck in the open without even a continental cover. GM or the Wilson defense dept have anything to do with this?

Well the Cadillac & Packard crowd were a sophisticated, civil bunch. This innovation allows them to participate in doing cookies, but without the smoke, smell of rubber, or wear on the tires.

Great idea but not easy. First you have to stop the car before the dance starts.

BTW It would be intresting to know the details on how the car is stabilized to not tip over.
